The type A / Class A motorhome, is also commonly referred to as the conventional motorhome. It is the largest, most luxurious of the motorized RVs. These RVs are virtual "home-away from-home" RVs which allow you to take not only your family but a great deal of items along for the ride. Fully loaded and equipped they are ideal for short trips, lengthy vacations and full time RVng. The Class A Motorhome is entirely constructed on a bare, specially designed motor vehicle chassis. Most gas fueled engines are in the front while diesel engines are in the back.

In today's market the need to bring our outdoor sports equipment with us is creating a need to move the engine to the front, making way for a storage garage in the back of the motorhomes. There are now front engine diesel pullers with space in the rear to haul ATVs, JetSkis, Dirt Bikes, Scuba Gear and much more. You are limited only by your imagination.

Rear Engine Gas Powered Class A Motorhomes

And, there is a new rear gas engine chassis being incorporated by a few Class A motorhome manufacturers. The recently developed UFO chassis introduced by Workhorse, ( the UFO stands for universal fuel option as well as universal floor option) means that you can choose your fuel (gas or diesel). These innovations open up a variety of floorplans unavailable before. The Georgetown Class A Motorhome uses this Workhorse UFO chassis with an 8.1L Chevy Vortec rear engine, as well as the Cruise Master by Georgie Boy. The motorhome looks and drives like a diesel pusher, but uses gasoline for power.
