Exploring Creature Comforts in the RV World
How High Tech Has Made its Way into the RV Lifestyle and is Welcomed with Open Arms.

The luxury of traveling with a pop-up travel trailer, truck camper or motorhome isn't new to the camping scene. Each year we see more efforts being put into meeting the needs of us comfort creatures. This summer be on the look-out for high-tech in travel.

You'll see plasma screen TVs and iPod holders, leather recliners and working fireplaces. Stainless steel appliances, heated floors, outdoor showers and so much more gracing this year's RV models. Traveling with comfort comes with a price, of course, but recreational vehicles and their accessories come in all budget ranges.

Hauling Your Toys is Big Business

For big boys with toys, your traveling house can come with its own garage. Called toy-haulers, ramp trailers, toy boxes and garage trailers, these 8-foot-by-10-foot garages are tacked onto the end of a motorhome, travel trailer or fifth wheels and can carry motorcycles, jet skis, golf carts, bikes and ATVs.

We Won't Go Without Surround Sound

We are so used to High Def and surround sound that we can't seem to get away from it. In the span of 40 feet, most Class A motor coaches come with at least three high-definition, flat-screen TVs. That averages a TV for every two people, with most motorhomes sleeping six. The truly hip and trendy of the traveling bunch can also opt for an iPod holder in the cockpit (driver's area) and surround sound.

A Second Home

Intricate wood detailing, etching on sliding glass doors, authentic marble flooring, granite countertops, spacious corner showers and glass-pane fireplaces all add to the homey feeling. And with all of that, there's still room to move around. When parked, most of the RVs have sides that slide out and extend the living area to measure 12 to 14 feet wide.

GPS, Internet and More

You will find computer work stations for keeping in touch at wi-fi hotspots while on the road. In motion, roof-mounted satellites keep more than your favorite television shows within your grasp. Motorhomes come equipped with cameras in the rear and now side-view cameras give you a clear view to change lanes. The cameras are located under the side-view mirrors and come on when you turn on one of your blinkers. The screen inside the cockpit usually includes a GPS system to help you navigate, and more comforts like heated/cooling cup holders and soft leather seats.

No matter where you roam, it simply feels like "high-tech home".
